Hometown Girl by Mariah Stewart is book 4 of the Chesapeake Diaries series, and the first one of Mariah Stewart’s books I have read. Even though Hometown Girl is book 4 in the series, it is easily a stand alone book, meaning you do not have to read the first books in the series to keep up! Although after meeting the characters, I am going to track down the other three books and read them!
Brooke Madison Bower had it all growing up. Brains, looks, loving family, you name it, she had it, and as a teen she knew it and abused it! But now that she is an adult, going through trials such as losing her husband has taught her there is more to life than “having it all”. Brooke has moved back home to live with her mother and brother and to make a new life for herself and her son. She wants for her son what she had growing up. That does not include romance of any type, she refuses to mar the relationship she had with her deceased husband by getting involved again, even though it has been almost 3 years since his death. Thus leaving her with a string of first dates, since she refuses and second date offers.
Jesse Enright has other plans. He wants it all. House, picket fence, kids, loving wife, the whole shebang. And he has his sights set on none other than Brooke Madison Bower herself. From the moment he laid eyes on her, he fell in love. As a newcomer in town, he sees all the men who have dated and lost with Brooke and isn’t willing to take the risk of being shot down. When her brother Clay gives him some advice, he decides to take it and see if it will draw Brooke to him.
Hometown Girl by Mariah Stewart is a great read. It takes you away to a place where neighbors are kind, everyone knows your name and they all look out for each other. Kind of like Mayberry with cell phones! I really enjoyed getting to know the characters, and learning their stories. Not to mention the conference room scene with Jess and Brooke! Ooh la la!

Life was always just about perfect for Brooke Madison Bowers. She was the prettiest, most popular girl in small-town St. Dennis, Maryland, a prom queen, local pageant star, and the pride and joy of her loving parents. She even married the man of her dreams. But the promise of happily ever after fell to pieces when her husband was killed while serving in Iraq. Brokenhearted and longing for the solace of better days, she returns to the idyllic world of St. Dennis, and the familiar comfort of the family farm. Surrounded by her loving family and friends, she’s determined to build a new life, complete with her own cupcake bakery. She’s equally determined never to fall in love again.
For Jesse Enright, life has been a challenge. A fourth-generation attorney, he’s spent his life fighting to escape the shadow of his irresponsible father. Now he’s moved to St. Dennis to run the family law practice, and he’s ready to find the right girl, get married, and settle down. But his carefully laid plans go out the window when he meets Brooke and finds himself caught between the unbreakable law of attraction and Brooke’s resolve to go her way alone—despite the undeniable feelings Jesse stirs in her. But just like catching lightning in a bottle, is it possible to fall head-over-heels, heart-and-soul in love all over again?

I was provided this book by TLC Book Tours in exchange for my HONEST review! I have not been compensated in any way for my reviews. What you are reading is my opinion, and no one else’s!

This is the kind of series I really like – one where you can pick up any book and enjoy it on it’s own, but that makes you want to go back and read the rest of the series as well. I’m so glad you enjoyed it as much as you did!
Thanks for being a part of the tour.
