Control?

While going to pick Stud up from work yesterday, I was in city traffic, just before 5pm. So it was relatively busy. I notice coming towards me in one of the lanes on the opposite side of the road was an adult man, riding a skateboard. In the road. Impeding traffic.

Suddenly the man decided to cross the street, didn’t look back, just changed his direction, causing the cars in the lane he was crossing to slam on breaks, squeal tires and come to a stand still.

Luckily the man did not get hit.

But what if he had?

What if the car/cars had not been able to stop?

Would the driver/s be held responsible? And what would that do to them for the rest of their lives? How would it affect them mentally to hit a human being?

All because the guy on the skateboard decided to cross the street.

It made me wonder, how often things that are a result of another person’s actions affect me. Affect the way I see things, the way I look at life?

We worry so much about our own decisions, making the right ones, and attempting not to fail, but what of the failures of others?

We can’t control others. Even as a parent, how much can we really control our children? Sure we can control their environment, where they go, what they watch on tv, things like that. But can we really control our child? Not really. We can teach them, guide them, and give them the information to make informed decisions. But we cannot control the outcome.

Ultimately, as much as we as humans wish to be in control, we have no control.

BUT we can have a God who IS in control.

If we so chose.

He does not force. He does not insist we follow Him.

But He is there.

We just have to chose.

Tell me what you think!
